About the Role

Our client in the public sector is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst / Statistician to join their Research and Information Analysis department. The successful candidate will be responsible for examining, cleansing, transforming, and interpreting data to uncover valuable insights that inform decision-making, improve performance, and support evidence-based governance across municipalities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support data collection initiatives across multiple programmes and projects.
  • Conduct data analysis, identify trends and patterns, and provide actionable insights.
  • Use tools such as Excel, SPSS, R, and Python to analyze and visualize data.
  • Compile reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
  • Support the development of applications and dashboards for municipal performance tracking.
  • Coordinate and disseminate research outputs such as socio-economic profiles and municipal briefs.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and meaningful interpretation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in data analytics, research, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and visualization.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (SPSS, R, Python, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of data-driven decision-making and reporting.
  • Knowledge of the local government environment will be an added advantage.
